MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE ANNOUNCES MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

MAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Kazuya Komada, Western Michigan - Junior, Osaka, Japan
Junior Kazuya Komada led Western Michigan with a 2-2 record against a pair of nationally-ranked teams over the weekend. Komada started the weekend by improving to 2-0 against nationally-ranked doubles teams with sophomore Zeyad Montasser. The Broncos' No. 1 duo defeated #35 David Bendheim and Calin Paar of Nebraska, 8-6. Komada almost pulled off the singles upset with a three-set loss to #92 Paar 6-1, 1-6, 6-2. Komada came back against No. 55 Iowa and defeated Nikita Zotov at No. 2 singles in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. With his two wins, Komada improved to 110-65 in his career at Western Michigan.
Wojciech Starakiewicz, Buffalo - Sophomore, Warsaw, Poland
Sophomore Wojciech Starakiewicz scored a straight-sets win over Cornell's Jonathan Jaklistch, 6-4, 7-6 at first singles. With the victory, Starakiewicz, in his first season with the Bulls after playing last season at Tulsa, moved into a tie for first place with his eighth singles win of the year. Starakiewicz also teamed with Kirill Kolomyts at first doubles for an 8-4 victory over Andy Gauthier and Jeremy Feldman.
Sven Burus, Toledo - Junior, Slavonski Brod, Croatia
Junior Sven Burus tallied a 2-2 record as Toledo suffered a pair of losses to Michigan State and DePaul. Against the Spartans, Burus recorded a 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 victory at second singles for Toledo's lone point of the match. In the Rockets' setback to DePaul, Burus teamed with Leo Sarria to earn an 8-5 victory at second doubles, and he fell in three-sets at second singles.
