Pepper Pike, OH - Kent State sophomore-to-be Gabby Wedding (Wilmington, OH) took medalist honors in the qualifier for the 79th Ohio State Women's Golf Association Amateur Championship and also established a women's course record at The Country Club in Pepper Pike with an 8-under-par 65 Monday.

Wedding's 65 was four shots better than the old record of 69 by former OSWGA champion Mary Ann Bierman on the par-73 layout.

Wedding, 18, had eight birdies and no bogeys in her round and just 26 putts. In 2001, she lost in the second round to eventual champion Emily Bastel.

Wedding is now the top seed in the match play portion, which starts Tuesday, June 25. She will play Ashley McCall, who shot an 81.
