Ohio Shoots Past Niagara, 77-64
HALIFAX, Nova Scotia (Dec. 2) (AP) - Ohio scored the first 15 points of the game and Brandon Hunter scored 13 of his 20 points in the second half as the Bobcats neat Niagara,
77-64, on Saturday (Dec. 2).
The Eagles didn't score their first point until 5:01 had been played and never got any closer than five points.
Dustin Ford added 16 points and Anthony Jones had 15 for Ohio (2-0). Hunter also had 13 rebounds.
Niagara closed the gap to 60-55 with 7:07 left in the second half, but Ohio scored 11 consecutive points to put the game away.
Niagara's Demond Stewart, seventh in the nation in scoring last year, was hampered by foul trouble and an injured ankle and only scored 11 points before fouling out. He
made only one of seven free throws.
Stewart's backcourt mate, Daryl Greene, led Niagara (3-2) with 15 points. Michael Schmidt added 13.
Western Michigan Falls To Marist, 78-71
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) _ Drew Samuels had 22 points and nine rebounds to help Marist give coach Dave Magarity the 200th win of his career with a 78-71 decision
over Western Michigan Saturday night.
Marist (2-3) led 48-29 at the half on 61.3 percent shooting.
The Broncos (0-5) made nearly half their second-half shots and outscored the Red Foxes by 12, but it wasn't enough to overcome their first-half deficit.
Sean Kennedy scored 12 points and dished out 11 assists for Marist.
Steve Reynolds scored 19 points, Reggie Berry added 12 and Jon Powell had 11 for Western.
