Indianapolis- After 36 holes Kent State still maintains its lead at the end of day one of the Mid-American Conference Men's Golf Tournament Thursday at the Brickyard Crossing Golf Course. The next six places are separated by a mere seven strokes.
The Golden Flashes finished one-under par, sophomores Tommy Wiegand and Tom Ballinger both finished tied for third overall at two-under-par.
Carding a fourth-place score of two-over par in the first round, tournament host Ball State rallied into second with a score of 290. The Cardinals were led by junior CD Hockersmith who shot one-under-par (70-73). Third-place Eastern Michigan shot nine-over-par for a score of 585 (291-294).
Eastern Michigan's Bryan Haase (69-71) and Northern Illinois' Jared Steger (69-71) lead all individual scores at four-under-par.
Round three will begin tomorrow morning with the first group teeing off at the No. 1 tee at 8 a.m. EDT.
