Southern Illinois Defeats Ball State, 93-80

CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) -- Jermaine Dearman led five players in double figures with 18 points as Southern Illinois defeated Ball State 93-80 Saturday night.

The Salukis (3-0) scored the first 10 points of the game and led 46-27, with 4:10 remaining in the first half before Ball State closed to 50-37 at halftime.

The Cardinals (1-1) pulled to within six points with 3:20 left before the Salukis went on a 10-3 run to put the game away.

Kent Williams scored 15 points for the Salukis, while Joshua Cross added 14. Brandon Mells and Abel Schrader scored 11 and 10 points respectively for SIU.

Patrick Jackson of Ball State led all scorers with 25 points, while Josh Murray added 22 and Robert Owens 11.
