MAC Pepsi Player of the Week

Joe Milroy, Northern Illinois (Sr., 1B/DH)

Northern Illinois senior Joe Milroy is this week's MAC Pepsi Player of the Week. The first baseman/designated hitter batted .563 (9-for-16) in five games last week and drove in nine runs, all of which came in a three-game span against Toledo. Milroy, who hit two home runs in back-to-back games, had four RBIs and a pair of hits in a 9-8 loss to the Rockets. He followed that with a five-RBI day and a 4-for-7 performance at the plate on Sunday, helping the Huskies to a sweep of Toledo. In addition, Milroy had a 1.063 slugging percentage and a .632 on-base percentage.

Other nominees:

Mark Malaska, Akron -- Batted .500 (8-for-16) with five RBIs, four doubles and three runs scored in five games.

Jeremy Ridley, Ball State -- Hit .522 (12-for-23) with nine runs scored and five RBIs. Also had two triples and two home runs.

Lee Morrison, Bowling Green -- In six games, hit .389 (7-for-18) with six RBIs and two home runs.

Jason Helps, Central Michigan -- Drove in eight runs over a six-game period, batting .471 (8-for-17).

Alex Marconi, Kent -- Hit .389 (7-for-18) last week, scoring seven runs and driving in four runs. Also had a pair of home runs.

Jason Ricceri, Marshall -- Was 7-for-12 (.583) in four games against Bowling Green, hitting two home runs and driving in five.

Zach Schmidt, Miami -- Batted .529 (9-for-17) for the week, including .615 in league play. Drove in seven runs.

Mario Wallace, Toledo -- Hit. 389 (7-for-18) in six games. Scored five runs and drove in six runs.

John Toner, Western Michigan -- Was 8-for-14 (.571) in four league contests, driving home five runs and scoring three times.


MAC Pepsi Pitcher of the Week

Dan Adams, Kent (Sr., RHP)

Kent relief pitcher Dan Adams is this week's MAC Pepsi Pitcher of the Week. Adams had a hand in all four of the Golden Flashes' wins, saving three contests and garnering a win in the other. In six innings of work, Adams fanned five batters, allowed six hits and had a 1.50 ERA. His save in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader was his league-leading 10th this year and the 25th of his career, which ties Adams for the most in MAC history.

Other nominees:

Joe Cheney, Bowling Green -- Made two appearances and had a 1-0 record with a 0.75 ERA. In 12 innings of work, he struck out nine batters, allowed 11 hits and gave up only one earned run.

Nate Tekavec, Miami -- Won his league-best seventh game of the season, a complete game victory over Akron. He struck out six batters and allowed six hits.

Brian Miller, Northern Illinois -- Made two appearances on the week, picking up a shutout win against Toledo. The blanking was the team's first in over a year.

Tony Schiml, Ohio -- Notched a win over Kent, going the distance and scattering four hits and allowing two earned runs.

Junie Melendez, Toledo -- Tossed his third complete game win of the season against Northern Illinois, striking our four and giving up five hits.

Matt Vriesenga, Western Michigan -- Struck out a career-high eight batters versus Eastern Michigan. He allowed six hits and no earned runs.
