TOLEDO (December 12) -- Two Mid-American Conference men's soccer players, MAC player-of-the-year
Michael Apple of Akron and first-team All-MAC goalkeeper
Scott Vallow of Bowling Green, were named third-team National
Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Americans. It was the second consecutive season
Vallow earned third team honors and the first time since 1988 that any Akron player was named an NSCAA
All-American.
In addition, both Apple and Vallow were named first-team All-Mideast selections by the NSCAA.
Joining them on the first team was Allen
Eller of Akron. Earning second-team All-Mideast honors were
Justin Millard of Akron, Lee Baker of Kentucky, and
Chris Doré from Bowling Green. On the All-Mideast
third-team were Akron's Nicholas Nunn, Eastern Michigan's
Drew Drummond, and Giovanni Fernandes
and Ilkaa Jantti of Kentucky.
On the NSCAA All-Ohio team (NCAA Division I & II) first team are: Apple, Doré, Eller, Millard,
and Vallow. Second-team All-Ohio honorees include
Jon Holfinger of Miami, Nick Kolliniatis
of Bowling Green, and Nunn.
