Ohio sophomore outfielder/first baseman Cory Keylor is the MAC Pepsi
Player of the Week. In five games last week, Keylor hit .474 (9-for-19)
with nine RBIs, three doubles, two home runs and a triple. Keylor hit a
grand slam in the seventh inning to give the Bobcats a 7-4 win over
Central Michigan, then delivered a game-winning, three-run home run over
Western Michigan. Keylor had three multi-hit games and a pair of
multi-RBI contests.
Other nominees:
Mark Malaska, Akron -- Batted .333 (4-for-12) in four games last week
and also drove in five runs and hit a pair of home runs.
Kenny Burdine, Bowling Green -- Hit .381 (8-for-21) with four RBIs and
four runs socred in six games. In four MAC contests, he hit .429.
Scott Pieratt, Central Michigan -- Drove in 11 runs over a six-game
period and was 11-for-24 (458) with six runs scored.
John VanBenschoten, Kent -- Was 8-for-13 (.615) in four games, which
included a three-hit game against Northern Illinois. Also drove in
three runs and scored four.
Eric Pinkerton, Marshall -- Hit .412 (7-for-17) with two doubles and two
home runs.
Joe Milroy, Northern Illinois -- Batted .462 (6-for-13) with three RBIs
and one home run.
Jay Juras, Toledo -- Had a hit in all five game he appeared in and
batted .500 (7-for-14) with three doubles and three RBIs.
Joe Seestadt, Western Michigan -- Hit .364 (4-for-11) in four games and
drove in a team-high three runs.

MAC Pepsi Pitcher of the Week
Brian Villardito, Northern Illinois (So., RHP)
LaGrange, Ill. (LaGrange Park Nazareth Academy)
Northern Illinois' Brian Villardito is this week's MAC Pepsi Pitcher of
the Week. In two starts last week, Villardito was 2-0 with a 2.13 ERA
and picked up wins over Iowa and Akron. Villardito made his first
collegiate start against the Hawkeyes, going 5.2 innings and allowing
only two hits and one run while striking out three for his first win as
a Huskie. Against the Zips, he tossed a complete game five hitter,
fanning seven and walking only one.

John Wilkinson, Akron -- Hurled a five-hit complete game victory over
Ball State, sriking out seven and walking only two.
Tony Fontana, Bowling Green -- In two games, was 1-0 with a 1.74 ERA in
10.1 innings of work. He struck out 13 and walked five over the two
games and recorded a shutout against Toledo.
Doug Straight, Kent -- Tossed a two-hit shutout against Northern
Illinois, fanning three and walking one.
Sean Reeder, Marshall -- Pitched the school's first shutout since 1994
against Western Michigan, striking out six and allowing six hits over
seven innings.
Adam Keel, Miami -- Was 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA, notching wins over Xavier
and Toledo. He struck out a career-high six in the team's 9-0 win over
Toledo.
Denny McGee, Ohio -- Picked up a win over Western Michigan and struck
out nine and walked none.
Mike DeLong, Toledo -- In his first-ever start against Detroit, he
struck out 14 and walked four in 8.2 innings in which he received a
no-decision.
Angelo Palazati, Western Michigan -- Was 1-1 in two decisions last week
with a 2.61 ERA. He notched a win over Michigan, then struck out a
season-high seven batters in a loss to Marshall.
