MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) -- David Webber scored 16 points and Mike Manciel added 15 as Central Michigan beat Spring Arbor 86-44 in the
Chippewas' season opener on Saturday.
Central (1-0) made 16 of 28 shots (57.1 percent) in the first half compared to Spring Arbor's 5-of-25 shooting (20 percent) to take a 41-13 halftime lead. The
Cougars improved in the second half but ended 16-of-53 (30.2 percent) from the floor. Central finished with 57.7 percent shooting (30 of 52).
The Chippewas outrebounded the Cougars 44-23.
Jesse Whintly came off the bench to score 12 points for Spring Arbor (0-3). He was the only Cougar to score in double digits. Ryan Walter scored 7.
Chris Kaman had 11 points for the Chippewas.
