In Tuesday's women's action, the University at Buffalo won its eighth
straight game, a 59-52 victory over Northeastern in Boca Raton, Fla.
Tiffany Bell led three Bulls players in double figures with 15 points
and pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds. Sonia Ortega added 14 points,
five assists, five steals and four rebounds, while Mari McClure added 13
points. Buffalo (8-1) advances to the championship game and will face
host Florida Atlantic Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Akron's Cheryl Bowles scored a league-high 30 points to lead the Zips to
a 74-58 win over Southeastern Louisiana. Bowles, who connected on
13-of-20 shots from the floor, added a game-high eight rebounds. Akron
(3-6) will battle third-ranked Louisiana Tech in the title game of the
State Farm Holiday Classic at 8:30 p.m.
Kent won its second straight contest, an 85-45 road victory against St.
Bonaventure. Dawn Zerman was one of four Flashes (5-4) to post double
figures in points, leading all scorers with 18 points. Jamie Rubis and
Julie Studer each added 17 points.
In other non-conference action, No. 19/No. 15 Arizona defeated Marshall
91-61 in Louisville, Ky. In addition, Youngstown State won at Toledo,
75-57, while Xavier defeated Miami 90-48.
