Cleveland, Ohio-- Central Michigan senior Chris Vike has been honored as the Pepsi Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week for the third week of the season.
A 197-lb. wrestler from Stoughton, Wis., Vike went 4-1 this week and finished third at the Reno Tournament of Champions. Vike won his first two matches, edging Eric Gladish of Arizona State 4-2 and Jake Lear of Oregon, 5-4. Vike then lost to the nation's No. 3 ranked wrestler, Oklahoma State's Mark Munoz, who recorded a fall in 1:47. Vike rebounded with a major decision over Mike Maban of Cal-Davis, 14-4, and a pin of Lear in 3:51. Vike is currently ranked 16th in the nation and has a 6-2 record.

Buffalo's Gary Cooper (165 lb., So., Adams, N.Y.) went 3-0 with wins over Mark Fee of Appalachian State (6-4), Miguel Phillips of Binghamton (fall in :47) and Drexel's Dave Dietrich (5-3). Dietrich was ranked No. 16 in the nation. Cooper improved his record to 8-3
Ohio's Tim Courtland (Hwt., Sr., Aurora, Ohio) improved his record to 9-1 with a 14-5 majority decision over Findlay's Jim Joaquin.
