University of Kentucky men's soccer coach Ian Collins has been named
Mid-East Region Coach of the Year, the National Soccer Coaches Association
of America announced on Dec. 21.
The award marks the second coaching honor of the year for Collins, who
guided the Cats to their first conference crown and NCAA Tournament berth
in 1999, as he was also tabbed Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year.
"It's always nice to be recognized by your colleagues," Collins said. "But
the award is a tribute to the hard work done by Assistant Coach Jeff Chaney
and our players."
Collins is now one of 10 coaches up for National Coach of the Year honors,
which will be awarded at the NSCAA Convention, Jan. 14-16, in Baltimore, Md.
