Kent State David Lyon (baseball)
David Lyon (So., 3.71, sports administration, Emporium, Pa.) had a monster week, topped off by a two home run day on Sunday (4/4) to help Kent State complete the sweep of Western Michigan with a 14-4 triumph. With the game tied 4-4 against the Broncos with the bases loaded, Lyon hit the 3-2 pitch over the right field wall for his first collegiate grand slam. He finished the career day, which included a game high six RBI's, four runs scored and two home runs, with a solo home run to right center for only his fourth collegiate home run. Besides the series finale against Western Michigan, he provided big hits in the first inning in a pair of midweek games against Penn State. With two on and two out in the first inning against the Nittany Lions on Tuesday (3/30), Lyon doubled down the left field line to score a pair of runs to help Kent State win 9-8. He again provided a two-out double down the left field line with two out in the first the next day at Penn State (3/31) to score the Golden Flashes first run.
For the week, Lyon was 8-for-20 with two doubles, two home runs, 11 RBI's and six runs scored. He finished the week with a .800 slugging percentage.
