Women's Track and Field Awards Announced

MAC Track Athlete of the Week
Jill Odom
Western Michigan
(Fr./Highland, Ind./Highland HS)
Odom won the 800 meters and helped the Broncos' 4x400 meter relay team finish second at the University of Michigan's Len Paddock Invitational. Odom won the 800 meters in a personal record time of 2:10.40, three seconds faster than the runner-up. Odom ran the third leg on the relay team that finished with a time of 3:45.76.

Deanna Caldwell-Edwards

Caldwell-Edwards posted a pair of victories Saturday at the Campbell/Wright Open. The senior clocked a wind-aided 11.59 in winning the 100 meters and recorded a time of 24.1h in capturing the 200m. She moves in third place on the 100-meter MAC performance list and fourth on the 200m chart.

Yvonne Ferguson
Ball State
So.(Pittsburgh, Pa. /Westinghouse)
Ferguson earned a win in the 400-meter dash posting a top time of 54.45 Saturday at the Butler Twilight held in Indianapolis, Ind.

Kristi Vince

The senior Falcon Kristi Vince finished third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.80 seconds. She also finished fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.13.

Najah Floyd

Floyd won both the 200m and the 400m at the Toledo Rocket Open on Friday, winning the 400 with a personal-best time of 54.99, more than a second better than her previous best, and taking the 200 with a time of 24.50.

Jenny Fascione

At the Campbell/Wright Open, Fascione placed first in the 800 meters with a season-best time of 2:10.45. Her mark is the best this season in the event by a Kent State female athlete.

Sarah Henize
So. (Bucyrus, Ohio/Bucyrus)
At the Billy Hayes Invitational, Henize turned in the second-fastest time in the MAC this season in the 1,500 meters. Henize clocked in with a second-place time of 4:29.95 in the 1,500 meters in a season-best and career-best performance.

Lorene Skipper

Jr. (Hendersonville, TN / Beech)
Skipper shattered her previous school-record time of 2:12.53 in the 800-meter run with a third-place finish of 2:12.36 at the Wisconsin Twilight Meet.

Melissa Wiley
Fr. (Columbus, Ohio / Columbus West)
In the final home meet of the year, Wiley took first in the 100m (season-best 12.34) and 100m hurdles (15.23).

MAC Field Athlete of the Week
Ashley Morrow

Morrow qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Regional Championships (May 26-27) in Knoxville, TN, with a school-record, first-place finish of 49'1" in the shot put, to lead the Huskies at the Wisconsin Twilight Meet at Dan McClimon Memorial Track on May 6. Morrow set the previous record of 48'1 3/4" at the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships last season. The O'Fallon, IL, native added a second-place mark in the discus (141'3") and a bronze medal in the hammer throw (172'1").

Ashley Kaufman

In a warm-up for a potential showdown at this week's MAC Championships, Kaufman out-distanced Vannessa Roelofson of Buffalo in the javelin Saturday at the Campbell/Wright Open. Kaufman's second-best career effort, a toss of 173-02 edged Roelofson, who went 169-06. Both were NCAA regional-qualifying marks. Kaufman already has the top mark in the league, a school-record clearance of 177-02 set at the Mt. SAC Relays, while Roelofson ranks second (169-08).

Amanda Barnhart

Barnhart led the Cardinals at the Butler Twilight held Saturday in Indianapolis, Ind. Barnhart won the long jump with an NCAA Regional Qualifying mark of 20-00 ½. The mark is a season-best score for the Cardinals while currently ranking fourth in the MAC this season.

Whitney Hartman

Whitney Hartman continued her winning ways as she won the weight throw with a toss of 172-05.00.Hartman also finished second in the discus throw with a throw of 152-03.00. She also finished third in the shot put with a toss of 45-03.75.

Jena Amell

So. (Highland, Mich./Milford)
Amell captured the win in the pole vault competition at the Toledo Rocket Open on Friday. She cleared a height of 11-0 to win an individual event for the first time during this outdoor season.

Jackie Rodgers
Kent State
Sr. (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin)
Rodgers was the top finisher at the Campbell/Wright Open this weekend, May 5-6, with a mark of 12-11 ½. The leap is her second regional qualifying mark of the season and moves her into the first-place position in the event for the Golden Flashes.

Sarah Landau
So. (Geneva, Ill./Geneva)
Landau posted her fourth pole vault win of the season at last weekend's Billy Hayes Invitational. Landau turned in a first-place height of 13-5 1/4, her second highest clearance of the season behind her MAC-leading vault of 13-6 1/2. It also was her third vault of the season over 13-0.

Jaclyn Lugaila

For the sixth week in a row, Lugaila won the shot put event, this time at the Ohio Open with a 47-01.50 mark. She also won the hammer throw at 165-09. She now sets her sights on winning the shot put at the MAC Championships in Toledo to increase her winning streak to seven meets.

Sheriese Lucas

Lucas won the triple jump and finished seventh in the long jump at the Len Paddock Invitational. Lucas won the triple jump with a personal-best leap of 39'6" on Friday and then jumped 16'9.75" in the long jump.
