Kofi Sarkodie (Jr., 3.969, microbiology) helped lead the No. 1 UA men's soccer team to a 4-0 rout of No. 2 Tulsa last weekend. The defender from Huber Heights, Ohio, scored the game-winning goal and captained a defensive unit that matched an NCAA record by posting its 11th consecutive shutout, dating back to last season. Sarkodie played all 90 minutes against the Golden Hurricane, which entered the contest as the top attacking team in the country. Sarkodie owns a 3.969 cumulative GPA as a microbiology major at UA.
The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
