Kent State Women's Golf Tied for 15th After Round One

KENT, Ohio - The Kent State women's golf team shot a combined 302 (+14) today in round one of the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Central Regional at The Rawls Golf Course in Lubbock, Texas. The Golden Flashes are tied for 15th with the final two rounds concluding tomorrow and Saturday.

Texas leads the tournament field after shooting a combined 290 (+2), leading Missouri and New Mexico by one stroke. Auburn's Diana Ramage leads all individuals with a 4-under 68.

With the top eight teams automatically qualifying for the NCAA Championships in two weeks, Kent State sits just four strokes back of eighth place LSU and Tulsa.

Freshman Kira Meixner (Richmond, British Columbia) is tied for 17th after her 1-over 73 today. Meixner totaled four birdies and recorded par nine times. Fellow classmate Tara Delaney (Carlow, Ireland) was one stroke off of Meixner's pace with a 2-over 74 and is tied for 27th. Delaney was consistent for most of the day before finishing strong with birdies on holes 17 and 18.

Gabby Wedding (Sr., Wilmington, Ohio/Wilmington) fired a 77 (+5) while Katie Williams (Jr., Cambridge, Ontario) rounded out the scoring with a 78 (+6).
