Ball State Defeats WMU to Advance to NCAA Championships

MUNCIE, Ind. (November 27) -- Ball State defeated Western Michigan, 3-0, to win their first Mid-American Conference volleyball Championship since 1995. Ball State won 15-11, 16-14, and 15-9 in a match that lasted almost two hours. Ball State receives an automatic bid for the NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship, with the pairings being released on Sunday at 10 p.m.

Ball State Setter Emily Sallee was voted the Tournament MVP after setting a tournament record for a three-game match with 75 assists. The 75 assists is tied for fourth highest in NCAA history for a three-game match.

Sallee broke the MAC single season record for assists with 1,802, which is also the ninth most in Division I history.

Susie Meshberger and Megan Hammons tallied 22 kills, while Jenna Foster recorded a double-double with 16 kills and 15 digs to lead Ball State.

Western Michigan was paced by 23 kills from Mandy Whitfield and 13 from Traci Morin.
