Cleveland - The Mid-American Conference All-MAC team honors were handed out tonight at the league's banquet in Muncie, Indiana, in conjunction with the championship tournament taking place April 25-28. The All-MAC team is selected by the coaches based on seasonal performances.
The All-MAC first team features Rebecca Hawkins and Lisa D'Amelio of regular season champion Eastern Michigan. The rest of the first team consists of Jessica Johnson and Anna Mitina of Marshall, Larissah Chinwah of Western Michigan and Branka Savic of Northern Illinois, and Kadija Richards of Miami. Of the first team, Hawkins and D'Amelio are repeats from last year's All-MAC team. Chinwah has been on the team four straight years. Mitina and Richards are three-peats to the team. Mitina also received last year's player of the year honors.
The All-MAC second team includes Irina Strembitsky of Akron, Frederika Girsang of Western Michigan, Melissa Roach of Ball State, Simone Duhme of Eastern Michigan and Tanja Sukovic of Northern Illinois. Girsang received the newcomer of the year award last year. Duhme was on the All-MAC team and received the Leann Grimes Davidge Sportsmanship Award last year.
