Cleveland - Eastern Michigan women's tennis team won the 2002 Mid-American Conference regular season championship. Runner up went to Marshall. Coming in third place is Western Michigan followed by Northern Illinois at fourth. Fifth, sixth and seventh places went to Miami, Ball State and Bowling Green, respectively. Rounding out the group is Toledo with eighth, Akron with ninth and Buffalo with tenth place.
This year's women's tournament will be held at Ball State University April 25-28.
Thursday First Rounds
Match 1 - Toledo #8 seed vs. Akron #9 seed @ noon
Match 2 - Bowling Green #7 seed vs. Buffalo #10 seed @ noon
Friday Quarterfinals
Match 1 - Eastern Michigan #1 seed vs. winner Toledo/Akron @ 10 a.m.
Match 2 - Northern Illinois #4 seed vs. Miami #5 seed @ 10 a.m.
Match 3 - Western Michigan #3 seed vs. Ball State #6 seed @ 2 p.m.
Match 4 - Marshall #2 seed vs. winner of Bowling Green/Buffalo @ 2 p.m.
Saturday Semifinals
Match 1 - winners of quarterfinal match 1 and 2 @ 10 a.m.
March 2 - winners of quarterfinal match 3 and 4 @ 2 p.m.
Sunday Finals
Winner of semi final match 1 vs. winner of semi final match 2 @ 1 p.m.
The All-MAC team will be announced Thursday night at the women's banquet. The Newcomer of the Year, Player of the Year, Leann Grimes Davidge Sportsmanship Award, and Coach of the Year will be announced at the conclusion of the championship.
