Cleveland, Ohio- (Nov. 22) Tailback Chester Taylor of Toledo, defensive lineman Joe Adam of Central Michigan and kick returner Joe Alls of Bowling Green were honored as Mid-American Conference Pepsi Players of the Week for the 12th week of the 1999 season.

Toledo tailback Chester Taylor (Jr., River Rouge, Mich.)
Chester Taylor rushed for 136 yards on 22 carries and a career-high three touchdowns in a 45-21 win over West Division champion Western Michigan. Taylor scored all three touchdowns in the first half despite not starting due to a sprained ankle. Taylor finished the season second in the league in rushing yards with 1,176 yards and is No. 3 in the nation with 6.5 yards per carry. Toledo won its last three games to end the season at 6-5 overall and 5-3 in the MAC and tied with Northern Illinois for second place in the MAC West.
Also nominated: Bowling Green wide receiver Kurt Gerling (So., Sterling Heights, Mich.) caught seven passes for 119 yards in the 33-30 overtime win at Central Florida; Central Michigan wide receiver Jammarl O'Neal (Fr., Riviera Beach, Fla.) caught a career-high seven passes for a career-high 147 yards in a 27-21 win at Ball State. O'Neal also set the MAC freshman record for receiving yards with 1,085 on the season. Miami tailback Travis Prentice (Sr., Louisville, Ky.) rushed for 163 yards on 29 carries and scored a touchdown in a 43-0 win over Buffalo. Prentice ended his career as the all-time NCAA leader in touchdowns (78), points (468) and rushing touchdowns (73); Northern Illinois tailback William Andrews (Jr., Robbins, Ill.) rushed for 154 yards and one touchdown on 37 carries in a 30-23 win against Eastern Michigan.

Central Michigan defensive tackle Joe Adam (Sr., Howell, Mich.)
Joe Adam had six tackles, including five tackles for losses of 25 yards. Three of Adams stops were quarterback sacks for minus 20 yards as the Chippewas defeated Ball State 27-21.
Also nominated: Bowling Green nose guard Brandon Hicks (Jr., Fairborn, Ohio) led the team with seven tackles, including one sack for minus nine yards and another tackle for a loss in the 33-30 overtime win at Central Florida; Miami defensive lineman Kurt Mester (Fr., Grand Rapids, Mich.) registered four solo tackles, three of which were pass sacks totaling for a loss of 20 yards, and one assists in Miami's 43-0 shut out over Buffalo; Northern Illinois free safety Donnavan Carter (Sr., Brampton, Ontario, Canada) notched a team-high 11 tackles, had two pass deflections, caused one fumble and intercepted a Hail Mary pass to end the game in a 30-23 win against Eastern Michigan; Toledo linebacker Kevin Rollins (Jr., Twinsburg, Ohio) had six tackles, including two sacks for minus 14 yards and recovered a fumble in a 45-21 win against Western Michigan.

Bowling Green kick returner Joe Alls, (Fr., Sterling Heights, Mich.)
Joe Alls had three kickoff returns for 84 yards, an average of 28 yards and also ran for 81 yards and the game-winning touchdown in overtime in the 33-30 win at Central Florida
Also nominated: Northern Illinois place-kicker Kent Baker (Sr., Terre Haute, Ind.) was good on field goals from 27, 41 and 49 yards and added three PATs. Baker also established an NIU single-season record with 35 consecutive PATs and finished the season with 71 points, the most by a Huskie kicker since 1978; Miami place-kicker Andy Brumbergs (Fr., Solon, Ohio) booted two field goals and all five PATs in a 43-0 win against Buffalo; Toledo punter John Manley (Fr., Shaker Heights, Ohio) averaged 42 yards on two punts with no returns.
