The field and seedings are set for the 1999 Mid-American Conference Volleyball Championship, which begins Tuesday, Nov. 23 on campus sites. Ball State (No.1), Western Michigan (No. 2), Akron (No. 3) and Bowling Green (No. 4) are the top four seeds and will host quarterfinal matches, with the highest remaining seed hosting the semifinals and the championship match on Friday-Saturday, Nov. 26-27.
Ball State (25-6), which secured the top seed and claimed the West Division title, will face Marshall (15-14), the No. 8 seed in the opening round Tuesday at 7 p.m. Second-seeded Western Michigan, which closed out the regular season by splitting its final six matches after a 13-0 league start, hosts No. 7 Eastern Michigan (20-11) at 6 p.m. Akron, the champion of the East Division and the No. 3 seed, will host regional rival Kent (13-16) at 5 p.m. Fourth-seeded Bowling Green (20-11) plays host to No. 5 Miami (16-12) in a 7 p.m. start.
The winner of the Ball State-Marshall match will face the winner of the Bowling Green-Miami contest on Friday, while the winner of the Western Michigan-Eastern Michigan match plays the winner of the Akron-Kent match in the other semifinal contest. The two semifinal winners will meet in Saturday's championship match. Times for the semifinals and the championship match will be announced following Tuesday's quarterfinals.
