MAC Player of the Week

Ball State's Jason Pressel (Sr., Cincinnati, Ohio) was 2-0 at No. 1 singles as BSU improved to 3-0 in the MAC with a 5-2 win over WMU and then just fell short of an upset on No.7 Notre Dame, losing 4-3. Pressel scored a 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory over 87th ranked Casey Smith of Notre Dame. At the No.1 position after defeating WMU's No.1 player Ravishanker Pathanjali 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 Saturday.

Other Notable Performances

Bowling Green's Joel Carney (So., Canton, Ohio) had a 3-0 record last week. He posted a win over Kentucky's Matt Emery, losing a total of just one game (6-1, 6-0) at the fifth flight. He won at the fifth singles flight again in straight sets (6-4, 6-3) over NIU's Jon Perlman in BGSU's 6-1 win over the Huskies. He teamed with junior Geoff Hiscox for an 8-2 win at the third doubles flight. Carney is now 22-9 in singles and 22-9 in doubles. He is second on the team in singles victories, and leads BGSU in both doubles wins and overall wins (44).

Northern Illinois' Raymond van Wasbeek (Jr., Vaassen, The Netherlands) finished the week 2-1 in singles and 3-0 in doubles, for a 5-1 campaign, He teamed with Aaron Forsberg for three doubles wins and the duo have won four straight matches. He sits at 18-11 on the season and needs just one victory to reach last season's total of 19.

Toledo's Pete Baghdati (Sr., Limassol, Cypruss) defeated Juan-Pablo Barriga of NIU 6-4, 7-5 (10-6).

Western Michigan's Justin Kates (So., West Vancouver, B.C.) earned a win in singles against BSU. He won the No.4 match over Kevin Burnett 6-3, 6-7 (4), 6-3. This win improved his MAC record to 3-1 in singles.
