Kent State's Meagan Class named MAC Field Hockey Player of the Week

Meagan Class had a goal and two assists against Michigan State and Ohio last week as the Golden Flashes extended their winning streak to eight games. Class assisted on a penalty corner against both the Bobcats and Spartans and then scored on a penalty stroke against Michigan State. She produced four points, but has also anchored a Kent State defense that has given up only four goals in its last eight contests including two goals in four conference games.

Meg Lewis (Central Michigan, MF, So., Pittsford, NY)

Scored the game-winning goal in a 3-2 Central Michigan win over Miami.

Susan Sattazahn (Louisville, MF, So., Palmyra, Pa.)

Scored Louisville’s lone goal against Central Michigan and scored the game-winning goal against Ball State in a 3-0 victory.

Angela Snedden (Miami, Forward, Fr., Sarina, Ontario)

Scored the game-winner in overtime and assisted on the game-tying goal with 1:29 left in regulation against Ball State.

Andrea Voros (Ohio, MF, So., Vancouver, British Columbia)

Scored both goals against Northwestern in a 2-1 OT victory for Ohio and added an assist against Kent State.

 

MAC Field Hockey Notes

BALL STATE

Ball State will travel to Kent State on Friday for a 1 p.m. game ... The Cardinals have lost three of their last four games against the Golden Flashes, but hold a 28-10-1 advantage in the all-time series ... Ball State lost at home to Miami for the first time since 1979.

CENTRAL MICHIGAN

Melissa Lazarevski has now scored in five straight games for the Chippewas ... Central Michigan has won four games in a row after starting out 2-3 ... The Chippewas are the only team in the conference that has not lost to Louisville since the Cardinals joined the MAC in 1994.

LOUISVILLE

The Cardinals beat Ball State for the first time since joining the Mid-American Conference in 1994 ... Louisville has already won two conference games this season (from 1994 through 1999 Louisville only won two conference games).

KENT STATE

Kent State’s 4-0 conference record is the best MAC start for the team since 1992 when the team started 6-0 ... When Ohio scored at the 2:16 mark in the second half, it stopped a scoreless streak of 332:02 minutes for the Golden Flashes … Kent State is currently ranked 15th in the latest Division I NFHCA/STX coaches poll.

MIAMI

Miami beat Ball State for the first time since 1982, snapping a 30-game losing streak to the Cardinals ... Angela Snedden leads the team with six goals and 13 points.

OHIO

Ohio will host Central Michigan and Ball State this weekend at the Ohio Turf Field ... The first Ohio goal scored on the new field was put in by Amanda Eaby with 2:16 left in the second half against Kent State on 9/29/00.
