Kent, Ohio (AP) - Janssen Patton intercepted three passes - returning one 74 yards for a touchdown and ending two fourth-quarter threats with the others - as Bowling Green beat Kent State 18-11 on Sept. 30.

The victory came four days after Gary Blackney announced he would step down at the end of the season after 10 years as the head coach at Bowling Green (1-and-4 overall, 1-and-1 in the Mid-American Conference).

Mike Knapp added a pair of field goals for the Falcons, who won despite being outgained by almost 100 yards.

Andy Sahm completed 13-of-21 passes for 111 yards with one interception and ran nine times for 19 yards for the Falcons. His touchdown came on a third-and-6 run from the Kent State 45 on the fifth play of the fourth quarter.

Kent State (oh-and-five overall and oh-and-2 in the M-A-C), cut an 18-3 deficit on Nashville Dyer's 21-yard fumble return in the fourth quarter.

But Patton intercepted passes to end drives at the Bowling Green 19- and 5-yard lines in the final period.
