EMU and Miami Advance To Women's Soccer Championship

Regular season champion Eastern Michigan and Miami, who tied for second place, will meet Sunday at noon in the 1999 Mid-American Conference women's soccer championship game at Ypsilanti, Mich.

EMU (17-3-2) defeated Ohio (9-10-1) 1-0 on a goal by Kate Lewis at the 66:07 mark. Lewis' goal was unassisted. Eagles' goalkeeper Sarah Willis was credited with three saves while the Bobcats' Vanessa Dennis had one save.

Miami (17-3) edged Central Michigan (14-6-1) 2-1 on a game-winning goal by Danielle Berkmeier at the 87:38 mark. Andrea Cunningham assisted on the winning goal. Miami took a 1-0 lead at 8:31 when Cunningham scored off assists from Katie Barth and Shaedyn Cousino. The Chippewas' lone score came at 27:42 when Jennifer Williamson scored unassisted. The RedHawks' Kimberly French had four saves while CMU's Beth Quiney had five saves.
