EASTERN MICHIGAN DEFEATS CENTRAL FOR WOMEN'S SOCCER TITLE
MOUNT PLEASANT (October 29) -- Central Michigan (8-3 MAC) fell to Eastern Michigan (8-1-2
MAC), 1-0 on Friday afternoon. Eastern Michigan took a 1-0 lead with a goal
from Robyn Maples at 43:30. With the victory, Eastern claimed the regular

KENT DEFEATS OHIO FOR TITLE
The Golden Flashes (15-5, 8-2 MAC) defeated the Ohio University Bobcats
(12-8, 7-3 MAC) 3-1.
With the win and Ball State's 2-1 victory over Miami, Kent clinched a share
of the Mid-American Conference regular-season title. A Ball State loss to
Louisville tomorrow would give the Golden Flashes the outright title. The
victory was also the eighth straight win and 14 straight home win.
It was a defensive struggle in the first half, with neither team putting the
ball in the back of the net. The second half scoring started with a Lisette
Haars (Driebergen, The Netherlands) goal with 29:51 remaining. Five minutes
later, Inge Corten (Nijmegen, The Netherlands) scored off a Kristen Clayton
(Trevose, Pa./Bensalem) pass, giving Kent a 2-0 lead. Corten added a goal on
a penalty stroke with 6:08 left in the game. Ohio scored late on a Jen Watt
goal to spoil a shutout.
Janelle Lynch (Morrestown, N.J./Morrestown), in her last game at Dix
Stadium, earned her eighth straight victory in goal, but had no saves on the
night.
Kent's next game will be on Friday, Nov. 5, when the Golden Flashes will
play in the MAC Tournament. The opponent and time have yet to be announced.
