MAC Athlete Of The Week
Western Michigan's Ravishankar Pathanjali (So., Tamilnadu, India) posted a 2-0 record against No.54 Michigan State. He won the No. 1 doubles match 8-5 with Ryan Maarschalk over Jimmy McGuire and Adam Hourani. He then won the No. 1 singles match over Chris Mitchell 6-7 (2), 7-6 (6), 1-0 (3). He leads the team in overall wins (38), singles wins (20), and doubles wins (18) despite playing from the No.1 position for most of the season.
Other Notable Performances
Ball State's Jason Presell (Sr., Cincinnati, Ohio) led his team to three-straight wins last week after posting a 2-1 record at No. 1 singles and a 2-1 record at No. 1 doubles. He logged a three-set victory over Toledo's Dipesh Rao and a two-set win over Southern Illinois' Peter Bong. He also combined for victories over Louisville's and SIU's No. 1 doubles teams.
Bowling Green's Mike Kossoff (Sr., Syosset, N.Y.) won his only match of the week, defeating DePaul's Sam Davidson at the sixth single flight (6-3, retired). He is now 17-9 in singles play this year. He has the second most singles wins on the team.
Northern Illinois' Erick Martinez (Fr., Mexico City, Mexico) did not drop a single set in winning all three singles matches in leading NIU to a 3-0 week. He teamed with Juan Pablo Barriga to go 3-0 in No. 2 coubles. He has an overall weekly record of 6-0.
Toledo's Dipesh Rao (Jr., Mumbai, India) teamed with Mirsad Begic at No. 3 doubles to win 8-6 over Rhodes and Laramore from BSU. Rao also took Jason Pressel to three sets at No. 1 singles before falling 6-0, 2-6, 6-0.
