Green Bay, Wis. (Sept. 19) - The LaCrosse Bobcats of the Continental Basketball Association drafted
former University of
Wisconsin-Green Bay standout Jerry Carstensen with the 63rd overall pick in the seventh
round of the annual CBA draft Sept. 19.
The 6-7 forward ranks 13th all-time in scoring at UW-Green Bay with 1,137 points. Carstensen was a two-time Midwestern
Collegiate Conference All-Defensive team honoree and was named second-team All-MCC as a senior. Carstensen joined the
Phoenix as a walk-on, earning a scholarship as a freshman and becoming one of the best all-around players in team history.
"This young man has improved his game each year with us," said UW-Green Bay head coach Mike Heideman. "Because of
his tireless work ethic, Jerry now has the opportunity to play basketball professionally and we are all very happy for him."
Carstensen will aim to become the fourth player in Phoenix history to make a CBA team, along with Jeff Nordgaard, Logan
VanderVelden and Chris Westlake. Both Nordgaard (Milwaukee Bucks) and VanderVelden (L.A. Clippers) also logged time in
the NBA and overseas.
