Men's Tennis Player of the Week Announced

Bowling Green's Nicolas Lopes-Acevedo (Jr., Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) went 4-1 overall last week. He was 2-1 in singles with both wins coming at the No. 2 flight. He won by a 6-1, 6-4 score versus Duquesne and a 6-4, 6-4 result versus Bradley. His loss was to Michigan's Matt Lockin. Lopez-Acevedo was 2-0 in doubles, with both wins coming at the top flight. He teamed with senior Vitek Wild for a win in BGSU's match versus No. 40 Michigan. He teamed with Wild again to get a win over Bradley. Lopez-Acevedo leads BGSU in singles wins (18) and overall wins (32) this season, and is tied for the lead in doubles wins (14). He is tied for 12th in school history with 62 career singles wins. Also he is 18th in doubles wins (58) and is tied for 14th in overall wins (120).

Other Notable Performances

Toledo's Matt Llewellyn (Fr., Fremont, Mich.) won his two singles matches against Duquesne and Bradley at No. 5 and No. 3 singles. Llewellyn defeated Mike Lydecker, Duquesne, 7-5, 6-0 and Mark Lakin 6-3, 6-1. He also won in his two doubles matches teamed with Pete Baghdati and Dipesh Rao. With his victories, he helped lead Toledo past Duquesne and Bradley.

Western Michigan's Ravishankar Pathanjali (So., Tamilnadu, India) went 2-0 from the No. 1 singles and doubles position against Ferris State. He downed Francsico Valencia 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 in singles. He then teamed with Ryan Maarschalk to win their doubles match 8-6 over Matt and Jason Cole. Pathanjali leads the team in overall wins (36), doubles wins (17) and ranks second in singles wins (19).
