Myers allowed just two goals as the Cardinals went 2-0 this week, extending their MAC regular-season winning streak to 63 games. Myers gave up only one goal apiece to Kent and Ohio, the second and third highest scoring offenses in the MAC respectively. Against Ohio, she had 11 saves and gave up only one goal--on a corner--to give the Cardinals sole possesion of first place in the conference. She is currently second in the conference with 114 saves.
Ali Johnstone (Ohio, So., MF, Delta, British Columbia)
Johnstone had two assists over the weekend against Central Michigan and Ball State. She is currently third in the conference in points (10).
Inge Corten (Kent, Fr., MF, Nijmegen, The Netherlands)
Corten scored two goals this weekend, one each against Ball State and Central Michigan. She is now tied for second in the conference in points (28) and goals (10).
Cheryl Eglin (CMU, Sr., MF, Wading River, N.Y.)
Eglin scored the game-tying goal against Ohio to send the game into overtime. She is currently third all-time in points at CMU with 87.
Of the six games played this week by MAC schools, three went to overtime, including Louisville's loss to Saint Louis in strokes.
For the first time since 1996, Louisville won a MAC game. The Cardinals beat Miami last Wednesday 2-0. The last MAC team Louisville beat was Kent on November 2, 1996 when the Cardinals beat the Golden Flashes 5-0.
Ohio snapped a 14-year losing streak in Mt. Pleasant this week as they defeated Central Michigan 3-2 in overtime. Four of Ohio's last five games have gone to overtime, including three with current STX/NFHCA top 20 teams.
Ball State's Sally Northcroft had her ninth multiple-goal game of the year when she scored three goals against Kent. It was her sixth hat trick of the season and the 18th of her career. Northcroft is the scoring leader in Divsion I this year with 33 goals and 67 points. Her 107 career goals rank her seventh all-time, while she is tied for seventh all-time with 230 points in the NCAA.
Several players have moved closer to career all-time records after this week of action. Central Michigan's Cheryl Eglin is within
three points of second place on CMU's scoring list ... Maggie Downey moved into third place on Kent's career points list ... Ohio's Lauren Mazziotto continues to build upon her career defensive saves record. The sophomore back has 24 career defensive saves, including six this season.
