Ball State goes into the 2005 Mid-American Conference Men's Tennis Championship as the No. 1 seed and as regular season MAC champions. The Cardinals completed the regular season with an unblemished 5-0 record Saturday by defeating Northern Illinois 5-2. Northern Illinois will be the No. 4 seed in the tournament.
Western Michigan, 4-1 in MAC play, is the No. 2 seed and receives a first round bye along with the Cardinals in the tournament and will face the winner of No.3 Buffalo/No.6 IPFW.

Defending champion Western Michigan went into the tournament last season as the No. 1 seed. The Broncos were ranked 58th in the nation and scored a 4-2 victory over No. 3 Northern Illinois in the championship match of the 2004 Mid-American Conference Tournament.
