Gymnast of the Week

Carrie Mayle, Kent State, Junior, (Fremont, Ohio/St. Joseph's)
Mayle set two career-highs in winning her second all-around title this past weekend against Western Michigan and Rhode Island. Mayle won vault with a career-best 9.875. which is currently tied for ninth on the KSU all-time list and scored a 9.750 or better on bars, beam and floor to win the all-around with a career-tying 39.225. Her all-around score also ranks ninth on the school record list. Mayle currently ranks tied for 24th nationally on floor with a 9.850 average.

Co-Specialist of the Week

Jessica Guyer, Bowling Green, Junior, (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne)
In her two events on the afternoon in a win over Western Michigan Guyer took home top honors on both the balance beam and floor exercise. The junior tied her career-high on the beam with a score of 9.825, a Falcon best this season. She also tied for first on the floor with a 9.900, matching her season-high.

Erika Linnersten, Kent State, Senior, (Cincinnati, Ohio/Finneytown)
Linnersten won two events and placed second in a third event to help propel the Flashes to a pair of wins over WMU & URI Feb. 11. Linnersten won bars with a career-tying 9.900 and beam with a 9.950 and placed second on vault with a career-tying 9.800. Her bars score is tied for second all-time in KSU history. In the latest GymInfo rankings, Linnersten is tied for 12th in the nation on beam with a 9.835 average.

Breanne Metzger, Bowling Green
Metzger helped the Falcons to a 193.625-191.800 victory over Western Michigan by capturing the all-around title with a score of 38.450. She posted marks of 9.575 (vault), 9.550 (bars), 9.700 (beam) and 9.625 (floor).

Sara Burtinsky, Central Michigan
Burtinsky won the all-around in CMU's 194.100-192.475 MAC win over EMU on Sunday with an overall score of 39.175. She also won the bars with a 9.925, third on the beam (9.725), tied for third on the vault (9.675) and tied for fourth on the floor (9.850)

Rebecca Fuss, Eastern Michigan
Fuss turned in a very strong performance against MAC-West Division rival Central Michigan on Sunday, finishing in second place finish in the all-around with a score of 38.075.

Cherisse Marier, Western Michigan
Scored a personal best 38.825 in the all-around competition at Kent State, Feb. 11. Marier scored a 9.725 on bars and a 9.825 on floor helping the Broncos to a second place finish ahead of Rhode Island. Marier scored a 9.750 on beam and a 9.825 on floor at Bowling Green on Sunday, Feb. 13.


Mattie Crawford, Central Michigan
Crawford won the floor exercise in a dual meet win over EMU with a season-high 9.900 and ties for first on the vault at 9.775.

Emily Koechel, Eastern Michigan
Koechel turned in another strong performance in the Eagles loss to Central on Sunday. She tied for first on the beam Sunday at Central Michigan with a 9.750. She also had a very strong floor routine finishing with a score of 9.775 and a tie for 8th place.
