Kent State Remains In First After Second Round Of Women's Golf Championship

INDIAN SPRINGS, Ohio - Round two action at the Mid-American Conference Women's Golf Championship concluded amidst cold, wet and windy conditions on Saturday. Kent State still holds it's 13-stroke lead after shooting a team total of 323. Ohio also shot a team total of 323 and remains in second place.

The race for the medalist remains very tight as two strokes separate the top three competitors. Ball State's Katie Sundberg leads the way after two rounds of play. Sundberg posted a score of 77 in the second round after firing a 72 in the first round for a two-day total of 149. In second-place is Western Michigan's Jenna Walter (75-75), who is only one stroke behind Sundberg with a total of 150. Ohio's Meredith Waterston (72-79) is currently in third-place with a two-day total of 151.

Kent State was led on day-two by Gabby Wedding, who posted a total of 78. Tara Delaney leads the Golden Flashes overall and is tied for fourth-place with a two-day total of 152 (71-81). Wedding and Katie Williams are each tied for seventh-place with a total score of 155. Kira Meixner is tied for ninth-place with a total of 156. KSU sits in first with an overall team score of 610.

Ohio had two players turning in cards in the 70's on day two. Kristin Mautz and Waterston each posted scores of 79 and have guided the Bobcats to a two-day team total of 623. Mautz is currently tied for ninth-place with a total of 156.

Western Michigan moved ahead of Ball State for third place and shot a team total of 326 on day two. The Broncos have an overall team total of 630, while the Cardinals sit in fourth-place with a total of 632.

Toledo jumped to fifth-place after posting a team total of 328. The Rockets have been paced by Katie Myos, who is tied for fourth-place with a total score of 152. UT has totaled a mark of 639 after two days of play.

Sixth-place belongs to Northern Illinois after carding a team total of 342 on day two (649 overall). The Huskies were led by Jackie Heslop who is in 11th-place and has a two-day total of 157. Eastern Michigan follows in seventh place with an overall team total of 652. The Eagles are led by Lindsay McEwin (80-79) who is in 15th-place with a total of 159.

Marshall remains in eighth place after day two of competition and have been guided by Amber Churchill (77-81). Churchill is tied for 12th-place overall with a two day total of 158. The Thundering Herd posted a team total of 335 and have an overall total of 658. Bowling Green closes out the field in ninth-place with a two-day total of 675.
