Gymnast of the Week

Kara Reighard, Centerl Michigan
Sr. Mount Pleasant, Michigan
Reighard won the all-around on Friday in CMU's 195.925-194.675 win over Stanford with a 39.350 score. She won the floor (9.875) and the beam (9.875) and tied for second on the bars (9.850). CMU finished third of five teams at the State of Michigan Classic on Sunday with a 194.800 score and Reighard finished fifth in the AA with a 38.925. She won the floor with a perfect 10.000 and tied for third on the bars at 9.900.

Specialist of the Week

Kristin Peters, Kent State
Fr., Maineville, Ohio
Peters sparked Kent State's come-from-behind win over Bowling Green, winning bars with a 9.900 and beam with a 9.925. She became the second KSU gymnast to score at least a 9.900 on any event this season and both scores rank among the top 10 scores in school history. Her bars total is tied for fifth all-time while her beam total is tied for sixth in the record books. Peters is currently tied for 21st nationally on bars with a 9.825 average.

Kristin DiPietro, Bowling Green
DiPietro had two solid all-around performances over the weekend. On Sunday, DiPietro placed first in the all-around with a season high 38.625 in a win over Northern Illinois. Only two days prior, did she also place third in the all-around (37.425) in a near victory over Kent State.

Jolene Worley, Eastern Michigan
Worley led the Eagles at the Michigan Classic on Sunday, finishing in eighth in the all-around with a score of 38.200. Worley tied for sixth on the bars with a 9.800, 15th on vault with a 9.700 and 18th on the floor with a 9.750.

Cherisse Marier, Western Michigan
Marier helped the Broncos defeated Eastern Michigan at the Michigan Classic on Sunday, Feb. 6. Marier scored a 9.825 on floor and a 9.775 on beam. She placed sixth out of nine gymnasts in the all-around competition with a personal best 38.775.


Jessica Guyer, Bowling Green
Guyer, in her four events over the weekend had three fist-place finishes. On Friday, Guyer brought home top honors on the vault (9.725) and floor exercise (9.900). On Sunday, the Columbus, Ohio native finished in a tie for first on the floor with a 9.800.

Rhiannon Banda-Scott, Central Michigan
Banda-Scott won the vault (9.875) and took second on the floor (9.850) in CMU's win over Stanford on Friday night; both career bests. She took second in the floor with a career-best 9.9 on Sunday at the Michigan Classic behind teammate Kara Reighard's 10.0.

Emily Koechel, Eastern Michigan
Sophomore Emily Koechel had a solid day at the Michigan Classic competing against some of the nation's best gymnasts. She finished18th on floor exercise with a 9.750 and 19th on beam with a score of 9.675

Kelly Kramer, Northern Illinois
Kramer won a pair of event titles during NIU's loss to Bowling Green Sunday. She posted an event-winning 9.800 on the vault to stake the Huskies to an early lead in rotation No. 1. Kramer followed that up with a 9.800 to win the floor exercise and almost bring NIU back from a large deficit heading into the last rotation of the day.
