KSU's Delaney Selected As Women's Golfer Of The Week

The Mid-American Conference announced it's Women's Golfer of the Week today. The award went to Kent State freshman Tara Delaney (Carlow, Ireland/ Gaelcholaiste Cheatharlach). Delaney recorded the best finish of her career, tying for third with a 75-72-72 (221), in leading the Kent State women's golf team to a fourth place finish at the 2005 Lady Buckeye at the par 72 Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio this weekend. The third place finish for Delaney was her second top 10 finish of the spring season and the fifth overall. Delaney got off to a slow start with a 3-over 75 in the opening round before firing a pair of par 72's in the final two rounds to help Kent State finish fourth, the highest among the seven MAC schools at the competition.

Catherine Fortin, Eastern Michigan
Fr., Beauceville, Canada (Polyvalente St. Francis)
Fortin finished in 36th place at the Lady Buckeye Invitational hosted by the Ohio State University, April 16-17. The Beauceville, Canada native was the Eagles low finisher with a 237 (86-77-74). As a team, the Eagles turned in a three-round team score of 965 (327-322-316). Her final round 74 is a new career-low for a single round, and her 237 total ties her career-best over three rounds. She fired a 237 at the Legends of Indiana (79-79-79) and the Notre Dame Invitational (79-79-79).

Ana Brown, Ohio
Jr., West Chester, Ohio (Lakota West)
Brown led the Bobcats by tying for 37th out of 93 competitors at the Lady Buckeye Invitational over the weekend. The junior from West Chester, Ohio, shot her best round of the spring with a 74 on Saturday and finished with a 238, improving her average to 81.43 on the year.

Joanna Periversoff, Toledo
Fr., Hamilton, Ontario (St. Thomas More)
Periversoff paced the Rockets by tying for 16th place with a 229 (79-70-80). It was her fifth Top 20 finish of the season. Toledo finished in ninth place out of 15 teams this weekend at Ohio State's Lady Buckeye Invitational. The event was held at the par-72, 6,201-yard OSU Scarlet Course.

Jenna Walter, Western Michigan
Jr., Burton, Mich. (Flint Kearsley)
Walter earned team medalist honors at the Lady Buckeye Invitational, helping WMU to a seventh place finish at the event. Her 54-hole total of 223 (77-73-73) marked a season low and earned her a share of sixth place in the field of 93 golfers. Walter's finish was her highest since mid-October.
