The Mid-American Conference announced it's Men's Tennis Player of the Week today. The award went to Toledo Senior Freddy Gomez (San Tome, Venezuela/San Francisco de Asis). Gomez is 5-2 since his return to the court for UT following a sixweek hiatus, including a 4-0 showing this past weekend against IPFW, Butler and Youngstown State, where he defeated all three
of his opponents in straight sets. Against IPFW, Freddy won his
No. 4 singles match by a 6-4, 7-6 (6) margin, as well as paired
with junior Cristobal Toral at No. 3 doubles for an 8-4 win to lead
Toledo to its fi rst conference victory. Freddy also stepped up one
fl ight to No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles against Youngstown State
to claim victory in both spots.
Brady Crosby, Western Michigan, So. (Livonia, Mich.)
Crosby helped the Broncos remain undefeated (3-0) in MAC play
with a singles and doubles victory at Northern Illinois. He and
senior Tommy Dennis earned an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles for
the duo's 11th-straight victory. Crosby and Dennis are currently
ranked 55th in the nation and own a dual match record of 17-2.
He then cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles over Mark
Tate in Western Michigan's 6-1 team win.
