MEN'S MAC SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Paul Ricard, Miami
Bowling Green, Ohio (Bowling Green)
Ricard posted wins in three events last weekend in leading Miami to
a pair of dual meet wins over Cleveland State and MAC foe Buffalo.
On Oct. 28 vs. the Vikings, Ricard was the lone RedHawk to record
wins in multiple events, doing so in the 500 freestyle (4:34.58), and
the 1000 freestyle (9:20.44), where he came in more than 13 seconds
ahead of the second-place fi nisher. Ricard paced the RedHawks to the
decisive 125.5-117.7 win over CSU. He followed up that performance
by helping Miami to a 144-95 win in its MAC opener versus Buffalo,
as he captured the 500 freestyle in 4:41.73, nearly five seconds ahead
of the Bulls' Luke Adams.
OTHER NOMINEES
Kurtis Leer, Ball State
Leer helped the Cardinals to a MAC season-opening victory at Buffalo on Oct. 28. In the 200 free, Leer clocked in at 1:44.57, which was 1.57
seconds faster than the competition. In the 100 free, Leer had a time of 47.61, which was 0.61 seconds faster than the second-place fi nisher. Leer was also a member of the first-place 400 freestyle relay squad that clocked in at 3:14.16.
Luke Adams, Buffalo
Scored a pair of victories for the Bulls against Ball State to begin the 2005-06 season. Adams opened with a win in the 1,000 yard freestyle in
a lifetime-best 9:58.50 and also won his signature event, the 200 backstroke, in 1:55.83. On Saturday vs. Miami, Adams established his second lifetime best in as many days, again winning the 1,000-yard freestyle in 9:47.15.
Josh Olsen, Eastern Michigan
Swept both of the diving events to help Eastern Michigan open the MAC season with a 168-59 win over Ohio. The win extends EMU's conference dual meet winning streak to 40 consecutive meets. Olsen posted scores of 285.60 and 253.43 in the one and three-meter events, respectively.
Jason Reutter, Ohio
Won the 200-yard breaststroke against Eastern Michigan with a time of 2:13.13.
