The Mid-American Conference announced it's Men's Tennis Player of the Week today. The award went to Ball State Senior Matt Laramore (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central). Laramore was a major factor in Ball State sweeping No. 52 Michigan State 7-0 Friday. The win is the Cardinals' fourth
over a Big Ten opponent this season. In singles' play, Laramore defeated MSU"s Cameron Marshall 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 2 slot. He also teamed with fellow senior Brad Rhodes in No. 2 doubles for an 8-3 win over Adam Monich and Brian
Compton. Laramore followed up on his Big Ten wins by helping the Cardinals sweep IPFW 7-0 later the same day. He slid past IPFW's Landry Nzudie 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 2 singles position.
Willy Gali, Northern Illinois, Sr. (Barcelona,Spain/Ies Avsias March)
Gali extended his career-long singles winning streak to 13
matches while nabbing his 20th and 21st solo triumphs of the
season to help Northern Illinois gain a split of its first two
outdoor matches of the season despite playing with a five-man
lineup. Gali earned a straight-set 6-3, 6-3 victory over Martin
Hehensteiger of Jacksonville to start the week before topping
Stetson's Marcus Echtler 7-6 (3), 6-3.
Yules Hadisubroto, Buffalo, So. (Jakarta, Indonesia/SMUN 21)
Hadisuborto won both his singles and doubles matches in UB's
4-3 loss at St. Bonaventure. He defeated SBU's Nikhil Murali,
6-2, 6-3, at third singles and combined with Nick Zieziula to
form UB's number one doubles duo which defeated Mario
Arce and Murali, 8-2.
