Swimmers of the Week
Shannon Kelly, Ohio, Senior, Vandergrift, Pa.
Kelly recorded two second-place finishes and a third against Ohio State on Saturday. Kelly posted a 28.20 leadoff split in the 200 medley relay, a 2:10.95 in the 200 I.M. and a 54.65 in the 100 free.
Eric Flecher, Ohio, Senior, Brunswick, Ohio
Flecher tallied a pair of second-place finishes and one fourth-place finish at Ohio State. He logged a 1:44.23 in the 200 free and a 48.69 in the 100 free. The senior also led off the 200 freestyle relay with a 22.53 split.
CSCAA Division I Mid-Major Poll - December 25, 2003
CollegeSwimming.com, in conjunction with the College Swimming Coaches Association of America, released its power rankings of Mid-Major Division I swimming and diving programs. The Eastern Michigan men's and Miami University women's programs lead the way with 249.85 and 246.08 points, respectively. The Mid-Major Division I rankings recognize Division I schools excluded from the lucrative football and basketball television contracts.
Miami is led by senior Amy Miranda, who is ranked 23rd in the 1650. Miami's 800 free relay is also ranked 24th in the nation. Steven Hill has swum EMU's highest-ranked swim with the 15th-fastest 1650 in the country this season. The Eagles' 800 free relay is ranked 27th nationally.
