Kofi Sarkodie (Jr., 3.969, microbiology) the College Soccer News National Player of the Week, led a defensive unit that posted a pair of shutouts against two of the top programs in all of college soccer as the No. 1 Zips defeated No. 4 North Carolina, 3-0, and blanked No. 3 Wake Forest, 2-0, last weekend on the road.

Sarkodie, a native of Huber Heights, Ohio, also contributed an assist in each game, including the game-winner against the Tar Heels. The versatile back then helped the Zips limit the Demon Deacons to just four shots for the full 90 minutes, without allowing a single shot on goal.

The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
