Gymnast of the Week

Cherisse Marier, Western Michigan, Jr.
(Windsor, Ontario/St. Joseph's Catholic)
Marier who has competed in the all-around in every competition for the Broncos this season, scored a 38.850 placing first against Northern Illinois in that category. Marier also finished with top honors on bars with a 9.800 and in her floor routine scoring a 9.825. Marier now holds the school's season average record for floor (9.769) and the all-around (38.450).

Specialist of the Week

Emily Koechel, Eastern Michigan, So.
(Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson)
Koechel had an outstanding meet leading the Eagles to a second place finish at the Eagle Classic over 18th ranked Southern Utah and 19th ranked MAC rival Kent State on Saturday. She finished in a tie for first-place on the floor exercise with a 9.875, and in a tie for fourth on the beam with a 9.800.

sara Burtinsky, Central Michigan
Burtinsky was the top all-arounder for CMU in its meet with Brigham Young. She posted a 38.650, scoring 9.775 or above on three of the four events. Posted 9.825 on the bars, 9.775 on the beam and 9.825 on the floor.

Rebecca Fuss, Eastern Michigan
Fuss led the Eagles to a second place finish over the weekend at the Eagle Classic finishing in sixth place in the all-around with a score of 38.325. She tied for third on the bars with a 9.700, finished with a 9.550 on both the vault and beam, and a 9.525 on the floor exercise.


Jessica Surridge, Ball State
Surridge scored two second-place finishes at Arizona this weekend. She took second place on the vault with a career-high score of 9.850. Surridge also tied for second on the bars with a season-high 9.850.

Mattie Crawford, Central Michigan
Crawford won the vault with a 9.90 and tied for the win on the floor with a 9.875 against 16th Brigham Young. She also posted a 9.225 on the beam
