MAC Gymnast of the Week
Ashlee Williams, Northern Illinois, Jr., Liberty, Mo.
Williams won the all-around title to help lead Northern Illinois to a season-opening dual meet victory over instate rival Illinois-Chicago. Williams scored a 38.400 which edge out teammate Kristina Campos by .100. She claimed top honors with the individual title in the uneven bars with a 9.800 and solidified NIU's victory in the day's final event with a second-place 9.750 in the floor exercise to propel the Huskies to a 48.600 team score. She also added a 9.575 on the vault.

MAC Specialist of the Week
Quiana Williams, Ball State, Sr., Gary, Ind.
Williams began her final season as a Cardinal on a great note by winning the balance beam with a 9.900 at the four-team Michigan State Invitational Friday. Williams score of 9.900 ties the Ball State all-time balance beam record.

Other Gymnast Nominees

Breanne Metzger, Bowling Green
Metzger placed second in the all-around with a 38.075 at the 22nd annual"Excite Night" versus Kentucky. She posted scores of 9.775 on the beam, 9.55 on the vault, 9.4 on the floor and 9.350 on the bars. Her score on the beam tied for fourth overall as well.

Sara Burtinsky, Central Michigan
Burtinsky won the bars (9.850), tied for first on beam(9.825) and finished second in the all-around (38.775) in the season-opening meet at Illinios State. Illinois won followed by CMU and ISU.

Other Specialist Nominees

Kari Elste, Bowling Green
Elste placed a 9.800 on the bars exercise at the 22nd annual"Excite Night" vs. the University of Kentucky. Her score led all Falcons and placed her third overall and was only .25 points away from capturing first place in the meet.
