Co-Gymnast of the Week
Kara Reighard, Central Michigan, Sr., Mount Pleasant, Mich.
Reighard finished second in the all-around against two ranked opponents in Kentucky and Michigan State. She posted a 39.325, scoring 9.8 or above in each event. Reighard posted scores of 9.825 on the vault, 9.825 on the bars, 9.800 on the beam and 9.875 on the floor.
Jolene Worley, Eastern Michigan, Fr., Orlando, Fla.
Worley won the all-around for the first time in her career on Wednesday at MIT with a score of 38.600. She also garnered first-place honors on the bars with a 9.750, second on the vault with a 9.550, third on the floor with a 9.700, and fourth on the beam with a 9.600. She backed up her performance on Wednesday with a second-place finish in the all-around at Saturday's Quad meet at Rutgers. Worley finished in a tie for second place on the floor with a 9.850, and a tie for second on the bars with a 9.675.
Specialist of the Week
Mattie Crawford, Central Michigan, Jr., Plymouth, Minn.
Crawford won the vault with a 9.90 against two ranked teams in Kentucky and Michigan State. She also posted a 9.750 on the floor and a 9.125 on the beam.
Kristin DiPietro, Bowling Green
DiPietro finished fifth of ten all-around performers at the Cal State Fullerton meet this weekend with a score of 38.325. She posted scores of 9.575 (vault) 9.425 (bars), 9.575 (beam), and 9.750 (floor).
Jessica Surridge, Ball State
Surridge finished her final home meet of her career as a Cardinal on a great note. Surridge finished first on the vault, scoring a 9.750. She backed that mark up with a second-place finish on bars with a 9.775.
Jessica Bradley, Bowling Green
Bradley captured the uneven parallel bars crown with a 9.775 at the Cal State Fullerton meet this weekend. She finished first of 24 competitors. She also finished sixth on the balance beam with a score of 9.600.
Laura Holensworth, Eastern Michigan
Holensworth had a solid week helping lead the Eagles to four wins. In Wednesday's victory over MIT she finished in first place on the vault with a 9.600 and finished in third on the bars with a 9.625. In Saturday's win she finished second on the vault with a 9.625.
Erika Linnersten, Kent State
Linnersten notched two top-three finishes, including her fifth beam title of the year as she propeled the Flashes to a third place finish out of four teams at the West Virginia quad meet March 6 where Kent State beat No. 23 Michigan State. In the meet, Linnersten won her fifth beam crown of the year with a 9.875 and tied for third on bars with a 9.775. She is currently tied for 19th in the nation on beam with a 9.839 average.
