KENT, Ohio - The Kent State women's golf team shot the second-best round of the day and jumped seven spots from 18th to 11th with a combined 307 in day two of the NCAA Division I Women's Central Regional at the Rawls Golf Course in Lubbock, Texas.

The Golden Flashes sit just five shots back of eighth place with a 305-307=612, with the top eight teams advancing to the NCAA Championships in Sunriver, Ore. in two weeks.

Baylor, Texas A&M, Missouri and Auburn are all tied for first heading into tomorrow's final round.

Freshman Kira Meixner (Richmond, British Columbia) had the best day for the Flashes, firing a (+2) 74 and is tied for 14th with fellow freshman Tara Delaney (Carlow, Ireland) who shot a (+4) 76 today. Meixner recorded two birdies on holes three and four and recorded par 14 times.

NOTE: Kent State's previously recorded first round score of 302 was mis-recorded by tournament officials yesterday and was changed from a 302 to a 305, putting the Flashes in 18th place after round one instead of 15th. Kira Meixner's previously recorded 73 was changed to the correct score of 76.
