KALAMAZOO -- The NCAA announced Wednesday the 64-team pairings for the 2006 NCAA Men's and Women's Tennis Championships. Both the men's and women's teams from Western Michigan will be represented after each team won the Mid-American Conference Tennis Championships.

The men, ranked No. 56 in the country with a 25-4 overall record, will travel to Stillwater, Okla., as the number three seed in the regional to face No. 16 Florida (15-7). The top seed in the region is the host, No. 15 Oklahoma State, who will play Drake in the first round. Men's tournament games will take place May 13 and 14.

"The players were hoping to go to California like the women, but I think this is a great opportunity for us to advance in the tournament," men's head coach Dave Morin said. "You play the number 16 team in the country in the first round and if you win you get the number 15 seed. I think that gives us a good opportunity to advance. We're not going on vacation, we're going on a business trip."

The women finished the season 20-5 overall and went unbeaten in the MAC in the regular season (8-0). The Broncos will play the No. 10 overall seed in the tournament and the 11th ranked team in the country in California (16-7). The other half of the bracket features Fresno State against Sacramento State. Women's tournament games will take place May 12 and 13.

"We're ecstatic about going to play one of the top 10 teams in the country," women's head coach Betsy Kuhle said. "Jan Brogan is one of most renowned coaches in the country and I look forward to competing against her and her team."
