Indianapolis - The Mid-American Conference Men's Golf teams head to Indianapolis, Indiana for the 2006 MAC Golf Championships at The Brickyard Crossing. Ball State University will host the three-day tournament that will begin competition with 36 holes on Thursday, May 4 followed by 18 holes on Friday, May 5 and the final 18 holes on Saturday, May 6. A total of 9 MAC school will be represented in the competition.
The 18-hole public course, designed by world-renowned golf course architect Pete Dye, was ranked among "America's 100 Greatest Public Courses" by Golf Digest magazine. The 6,994-yard, par-72 championship course is located on the grounds of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, approximately five miles from downtown Indianapolis. Four holes No. 7, 8, 9, and 10 are located within the famed race track's oval. The Indianapolis officially opens for the month of May on Sunday, May 7.
Throughout the three-day tournament results and recaps will be posted on the Ball State's and MAC website. The winner of the tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Central Regional Tournament.
