Danielle Beland, Akron, Fr., Ottawa, Ontario
Beland won all three races she was entered in at the Oakland Quad meet and set two school records in the process. She was a member of the first place 400 medley relay squad that won its race by almost four seconds. She followed that up by swimming a school record 10:21.35 in the 1000 free, beating the field by almost seven seconds, shattering the previous mark of 10:35.28 by 14 seconds. For an encore, Beland won the 200 fly in a time of 2:03.36, beating her closest competitor by over two seconds and eclipsing the previous mark of 2:08.67 by five seconds.
Kurtis Leer, Ball State, So., Kendallville, Ind.
Leer helped Ball State to a second-place finish in the six-team Indiana Intercollegiate meet at Purdue this week. He placed first in the 200 freestyle (1:44.55) and second in the 100 free (46.98). The sophomore also swam a leg on BSU's second-place 200 free relay team (1:26.60).
Karla Bailey, Ball State, Jr., Naperville, Ill.
Bailed helped Ball State to a second-place finish in the seven-team Indiana Intercollegiate meet at Purdue on Saturday, Oct. 25. She finished fourth in the 50 freestyle (24.74) and 100 breaststroke (1:08.23) and was part of BSU's 200 medley relay which placed second (1:49.76).
Jennefer Brankovsky, Buffalo, Jr., Toronto, Ontario
Brankovsky took three first places at the Bulls' meet with Siena on Saturday. She captured first in the 100 backstroke (1:00.92) and the 500 freestyle (5:03.97) and also swam the second leg of the winning 200 medley relay team. The junior was also the fastest racer in the 200 IM (2:13.67), but the event did not count towards team scoring as UB exhibitioned the event.
Maria del Mundo, Eastern Michigan, Jr., Corona, N.Y.
del Mundo won the 100 breaststroke and the 400 individual medley events in a dual meet at Wayne State on Oct. 24. She posted times of 1:09.00 in the 100 breaststroke and 4:46.83 in the 400 IM as the Eagles cruised to their first dual meet win of the season, 69-42.
Mandy Ranc, Toledo, Fr., Rocky River, Ohio
Ranc won two events, placed second in another and swam the anchor leg of a relay that finished second in the Rockets' tri-meet with Illinois and Illinois State on Friday, Oct. 24. Ranc touched the wall first in both the 500 freestyle (5:05.60) and the 1000 freestyle (10:23.30). She then finished second in the 100 butterfly (2:15.39) and swam a leg of the second-place 400 freestyle relay (3:45.58).
Branislav Hronsky, Eastern Michigan, Sr., Bratislavia, Slovakia
Hronsky finished in second place with a time of 52.94 in the 100 backstroke against a nationally-ranked Michigan team on Oct. 24.
