Female and Male Scholar Athlete of the Week: October 11-17

Northern Illinois Allison McGlaughlin (volleyball)
Allison McGlaughlin (Jr., 3.95, elementary education) put together a well-rounded weekend in playing a key role as the Huskies went 2-0 in Mid-American Conference competition. The junior led the team with 30 digs (4.29/set) and ranked second with 25 kills (3.57/set), while she also picked up two assists, an ace and block to give her 27 (3.86/set) of NIU's 130 points.

In a four-set win at home over Akron, McGlaughlin posted season highs of 18 digs and 17 kills while hitting an efficient .452. She also added an assist and ace. The double-double was her seventh of the season and fifth in a row. Then in a sweep of Buffalo, she totaled 12 digs to extend her streak of double digit digs to six matches. She also netted eight kills along with an assist and block.

The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
