WOMEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK (co-winners)

Heidi Romer - Bowling Green
Senior - Long Grove, Ill./Stevenson HS
Romer tied the school record with her 79th career singles win in a triumph over Northern Illinois as the Falcons improved to 14-9 overall and 3-5 in the MAC. She also upped her win total for this season to 17.

Kristen Ortman - Buffalo
Senior - Amherst, NY/Amherst
Went 3-0 last week as she scored doubles and singles victories to lead UB past Ball State on Saturday and clinch second place in the MAC. Ortman teamed with Miglena Nenova to score an 8-5 second doubles win over Katie Owens and Jennifer Pollack. Ortman then gave the Bulls the all-important fourth point with her straight sets win over Owens in singles play. The singles win was Ortman's 59th of her career while her doubles triumph was the 57th in her four years. Both marks are all-time records on UB's victory lists.

Jessica Thompson - Ball State
Junior - Carmel, Ind./Carmel HS
Thompson is on a four-match singles winning streak at the No. 1 position after posting straight-set victories over Akron and Buffalo this weekend. On Friday, Thompson downed Akron's Tanya Gombera 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 1 slot before earning a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Buffalo's Andreea Novaceanu Saturday. Thompson also paired with fellow teammate Haly Calderwood to go undefeated in No. 1 doubles play on the weekend. The duo easily slid past Akron's Sherlock and Larson 8-1 Friday and Buffalo's Novaceanu and Jacob 8-7 (5) Saturday.

Yana Parfenyuk - Eastern Michigan University
Junior - Ominsk, Russia-School #64
Parfenyuk tallied a 1-1 record combined in singles and doubles play. She defeated Jenny Belsky 6-2, 6-4 (Toledo) at No. 4 singles. With the victory, she notched a perfect 8-0 MAC singles record at the No. 4 position.

Victoria Pulido - Miami
Sophomore - Cuernavaca, Mexico/ITESM-Morelos
Pulido went 3-1, 2-0 in singles vs. Akron and Buffalo. The sophomore downed Buffalo's Smaranda Stan in three sets at No. 5 singles Friday and blanked Akron's Laura Hemlepp Saturday. She has won 10 of her last 11 singles matches and finished the regular season with a team-high 15 dual-meet singles wins.
