Men's Golfer of the Week

Mahoney carded a three-round total of 215 (68-73-74) to claim the individual championship and help the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team finish as the team champion Sunday at the 2006 Rutherford Intercollegiate in University Park, Pa., April 22-23. Mahoney, who fired a 141 on Saturday, shot a two-over 74 to hold on for medalist honors with a one-under par 215. The victory marks the East Lansing, Mich. native's fourth invitational win as a collegian and his second title this season after winning the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate, Feb. 27-28.

Despite a pair of top 20 finishes from seniors Patrick Wilkes-Krier and Brandon Boomsma, the Ball State men's golf team posted a final-round team score of 302 to finish tied for 10th at Michigan State's Fossum Invitational. Wilkes-Krier tied for 15th overall with rounds of 72-74-73. It was his third consecutive top 20 finish and his second straight in the top 15 of a tournament.

Walker finished the Rutherford Intercollegiate this past weekend by shooting a 225 (78-72-75) for a 14th place finish. His 72 and 75 led the Falcons the final two days of competition.

Wood paced Miami to its best finish of the season (a fourth-place tie among the 15-team field at the Rutherford Intercollegiate), shooting rounds of 74-78-73=225 to tie for 14th ... it was the ninth tournament Wood has participated in this season and was his best finish of the season and the first time he has led Miami at a tournament during his young career ... Wood's previous best finish was a 46th-place finish at the USA Spring Classic (March 13-14).
